Who is Voces Caelestium?
Korean-Australian conductor and cellist Taesoo Kim is the artistic director and chief conductor of Voces Caelestium. In addition, Voces Caelestium is co-directed by Pavle Cajic, composer and pianist. This year, cellist Jean Lee and flutist Rachel Daeun Lee join the organisational team. Voces Caelestium is grateful to everyone who has been part of the staff over the past ten years: Christine Wong, Lucy H-p, Chloe Chung, Ashley Son, Josiah Fajardo, Thomas Woods. Finally, Voces Caelestium could not exist without the countless student, amateur and professional musicians who volunteer their time and expertise each year, as well as our sponsors, who donate their money to make our concerts possible and amplify the causes we support.
What does 'Voces Caelestium' mean?
Voces Caelestium is Latin for 'Heavenly Voices'. While our concerts also involve orchestral and chamber works, our name reflects the fact that we began with and have continued to feature large scale choral repertoire.
How long has Voces Caelestium been running for?
Voces Caelestium was founded in 2012 by conductor Taesoo Kim. We have performed ten annual concerts from 2014 to 2023. Over that time we have raised over $89,000 for local and international causes (see our ‘past concerts’ page).
How do the concerts raise money?
All the money received through ticket sales and the money received on the night of the concert goes directly to the charities we support. This is possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors that cover the costs of running the concert.
How can I get involved?
If you would like to be involved in the choir or orchestra, or as a sponsor, please contact us at vocescaelestium@gmail.com.
