Call for scores: solo piano

This call for scores is being organized and run by Pavle Cajic, pianist, composer and co-director of Voces Caelestium.

This is an entry-by-donation call for scores. The purposes of this endeavour are:

  1. To raise money for Palestinian families trapped in Gaza facing starvation due to soaring food costs and scarcity. This round is fundraising for Mayar and her family. Mayar is a young mother who is caring for her daughter, has just lost a sister and been displaced from her home. She is currently living in conditions of famine.

  2. To support contemporary composers for the piano by recording new piano works.

Any composer can enter! DEADLINE: EXTENDED TO Midnight Friday November 15 2024 AEDT.

How to enter:

Submit an original piano piece of up to around 10 minutes. I will select THREE PIECES and I will make a recording of them with good quality mics and multiple video angles, send it to you, and post them to my YouTube channel. You will also have full freedom to use the recording as you wish.

Make a donation of at least 15 EURO ($16 USD, $25 AUD) to the nominated mutual aid fund using whichever of these methods feels most comfortable to you:

  1. Donate directly to the gofundme page, and email me a screenshot of your donation: www.gofundme.com/f/helping-myself-my-daughter-and-my-family

  2. Transfer your donation amount into the following Australian bank account, with ‘call for scores’ as the description, and I will pass it on to the mutual aid fund:
    BSB 313 140
    Acc. Number: 12269770
    Acc. Name: Pavle Cajic
    or PayID: pcajicmusic@gmail.com

  3. Send your donation to me via Paypal and I will pass it on: pcajicmusic@gmail.com.

Send your score and proof of your donation to pcajicmusic@gmail.com. Title your email ‘piano call for scores’.

Difficulty guideline: please be reasonable so that I can make good recordings for you. The pieces can of course contain technical difficulties; I am an accomplished pianist. However, for this project, I’m not looking for etudes or virtuoso showpieces. Longer pieces are neither more nor less likely to be chosen than shorter pieces.

Stylistic guideline: no specific stylistic guidelines, but I will note: I am able to improvise, and I tend to avoid Stockhausen.

Anonymity: please remove your name from the score submission.

One donation of 15 EURO = one submission. A separate donation should be made for each submission if you want to submit multiple pieces.
